Recently I was speaking with an old friend that I have photographed with over the years and the subject of maternity photos came up. She was all about it! So we put our heads together and agreed to plan something SOON. Well you know how that goes! We all three are busy people, and the ‘soon’ kept creeping away from us. Finally, we stopped our busy lives and made it happen. Sean and Brett met me at my studio for a jam packed hour of photography, and then we switched gears and headed to the river to catch the late evening light on the Yellowstone. Walking out over the rocky shore line, into the water on slippery rocks, with camera in hand was a bit tricky. I know the same was true for my young pregnant friend. Sean was a huge help in the studio and in the water! The experience inspired the desire for more shoots like this, and the images are breath taking! Thank you Brett and Sean… and ‘happy baby’! Enjoy the view.

Montana Maternity
Recently, I had the delightful honor of photographing with a past client. I had met and photographed Kendra at a Cowgirl Yoga Retreat a few years back. She reached out to me to inquire about the possibilities of a photo session with her family! Of course, I was all in! Not your normal maternity photo shoot mind you… Kendra so loved this place that she wanted to come back to Montana for her maternity pictures… with horses! So, we put together a plan and we snagged an amazing evening in the hills above Bozeman. Thanks to Margaret Burns Vap and our horse handlers Summer and Heidi. Also thanks to the Olson’s for allowing us to use their gorgeous property at the drop of a hat, as the fitting background for these magical moments! Life begins again!
Maternity Portraits
There is nothing more beautiful than a woman with child. All of nature is bust’n out with new life, or as I’ve often described my inspiration in photography: beauty… as it occurs naturally!
I’ve had a couple of clients from the past inquire about “prego” pics. Well, I haven’t advertised this, but I love to photograph motherhood. Having been down that path with my wife and our two wonderful daughters, I am no foreigner in these waters (yes that’s a pun). And yes, I love capturing this beauty just as much as weddings, or … you name it. Photography for me is all about the moment and being watchful enough to capture the special ones as they arise.
Sooooo… I dug into my photos from last fall that I did for my good friend, business partner and fellow photographer Lauren Brown. These are photos of Lauren carrying her new baby girl Cecilia. Now, Cece joins us in the studio regularly and we play, make funny noises, smile and laugh. What a JOY!
