Dramatic Montana wedding

September 19th in Lolo

Just started work on Amber and David's wedding from what seems like yesterday. The images have brought back memories of an exciting and dramatic wedding day in the Bitterroot Valley near Lolo. Fire was on the horizon that day, which seemed appropriate because David is a smoke jumper among other things. Amber a ballerina and school teacher.

Right after the family photos we hopped in the Suburban and raced over a county road to the river. And I do mean RACED... I think David thought we was in his airplane rather than a truck on a country road. The photo tells the story from the back seat! Trying to catch this amazing light and as you can see from the second photos IT WAS FABULOUS!!!

The trees are not blurred in photoshop. We were doing close to 60 at times!

this is going to be a spectacular album.

Wedding Photojournalist

Big Sky Wedding

Hey there. I'm in Great Falls this week shooting ads for Benefis Hospital (in between amazing weddings!). Last Saturday I shot for Heather and Stephen. This wedding reminded me of my love of for photojournalism. I knew this was going to be a special occasion and all the stars aligned to make it so.

Some folks have scoffed at the idea that a wedding photojournalist is any different than any other 'wedding photographer'. Well in support of the difference I submit to you a few of the many images I made last Saturday. I also suggest you take a visit to the WPJA website. It is a relative small group of wedding photographers that focus on perfecting their intuition and their craft as photojournalists. I'm proud to be a member of this elite association.

In any case... however you see it, just see it and enjoy the view!

Here's a cool image of my friend Catalin Green putting the finishing touches on her art... the bouquets. Another fabulous wedding by Catalin Green of Avant.

Montana's Big Sky

A weddings best friend!

About this time of year, I like to revisit some of the skies of the past summer. Yeah, I'm nuts about those summertime displays of grandeur against our majestic mountains and valleys. You know, I collect these moments as I walk about, photographing in our land of the BIG SKY. Here's a few of my favorites from last year.

I'm really looking forward to DeeDee and Scott's wedding coming up in February. It's going to take place outside... yep, and it's going to be a glorious Montana Wedding day. And that's just the first of some really cool weddings.

I just booked a couple for July that I'm excited about. They both just recently returned from Army deployment in Iraq. I admire folks like this, that know first hand what it means to sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy. My hat's off to our men and women of the military and I'm pleased to have the opportunity to do something really special for these two.

And last but not least, travel is on my calender for August. The white sands of the Bahamas call me for a week long adventure to shoot for a really fine couple.

Remember... look up and enjoy the clouds. It will always lift your spirits.
