Palmer Alaska

Journal images

My world of summer weddings was put on hold this week while Heather and I take some time off to visit our friends in Palmer, Alaska. Russ is a highschool friend of Heather's with whom we have recently reunited. Russ and Rhonda have two great boys/men, and a fabulous life and home in Palmer. They have made us so welcome in their home and we can't wait to share our hometown Livinston, MT with them in the near future.

We've been knocking around the mountains in "Princess", a 1959 180 Cessna. A real beauty of a plane. Today we're off to Montague Island just about an hour north of us. We're going to do some beach combing, salmon fishing, and sight seeing. Here are a collection of photos I've made up to this point. Some of which are from a trip that we took to visit George Lake. We got to see Surprise and Colony Glaciers from above... wow, massive!. We landed on a dirt strip and hiked around until late, returning home by sunset. Heather got some time behind the yoke and flew an airplane for the first time in her life.

More later. Gotta fly!

Russ and "Princess" volunteer their services for the Iditarod every year.

Russ flies for Alaska Air when he's not playing.

Engagement photos on the Gallatin River

I'm always pleased when I get a referral from a client that was pleased with my work. In this case it was a sister of a bride that I shot for last year in Red Lodge, MT. Erica and Jake have set the date for next July. They over from Columbus for an engagement shoot last last week, before returning to medical school in Seattle. The day was warm, the water cool and the light was magical.

Enjoy!

Heather and I are off to Alaska tomorrow for a week off. You can expect some great images of Alaska in the upcoming days. Work will resume in the studio on September 5th. I'll be checking my email occasionally between fishing, golf and hiking!

Erik and Tricia forego the rain

8.8.08 at the Gallatin Gateway Inn

Erik and Tricia planned an outdoor wedding at a private lodge near Gallatin Gateway. They waited patiently for the rain to subside but at an hour before the ceremony it was evident that the passing shower was sticking around. So they switched gears and headed for the Gallatin Gateway Inn where the reception had been planned. The rain didn't dampen any spirits, it only cleared the air and brightened our Big Blue Sky!

Lot's of great photos in this wedding. Here's a sneak peek.

Happy days ahead for my new friends... wherever they are - somewhere on a white sandy beach!

Bottom's up!

Wendy and Ken - July 12, 08

Big Sky Wedding - Manhattan Ranch style

I had the greatest treat a few weeks ago. Jennie Lynn and I attended and photographed the wedding of Wendy and Ken. California girl meets Montana boy... and the land was graced by the union of these two souls. Meeting (not by chance) on eHarmony and finding kindred companionship, these two came together and soon wedding bells were ringing in Montana.
The wedding was scheduled for the beautiful Rainbow Ranch, but as fate would have it, the Rainbow Ranch Lodge had a devastating fire which forced the couple to choose a new venue. They married at Soldiers Chapel in Big Sky and then proceeded to Ken's family property in Manhattan. It was a celebration that remembered to honor fathers and mothers, friends young and old, present and departed. It was a ranch style gathering with a roasted pig, lots of great food, cake, beer and well... it was the most comfortable and natural wedding reception I've been to in awhile.

The good news is that the wedding was a beautiful time on earth. The Rainbow Ranch will be restored to it's original beauty and available for weddings in 2009.

Many beautiful Montana weddings are on my desktop. We shot two weddings last weekend and tomorrow and Saturday we are at it again. Here in Montana, the sun shines on us and the rain cools us off as people enjoy our pristine mountain environs. It's heaven on earth!

Alicia and Tyler July 5th, 08

Bozeman sunny-day Wedding

Ok, so... I just finished the first draft album for Alicia and Tyler. I have really enjoyed working with this couple. It started last winter with a snowy engagement session, romping around the Riverside Country Club in Bozeman. Then we did a "Trash the Dress" fun shoot which was a gas! Then the big day came on July 5th and the sun shown upon their wedding day. The images tell the story more eloquently than I can with words. So click below and enjoy!

And if that's not enough you can go to my Portfolio Site, navigate to the Videos and check out all the fun we've had.
