Emily and Hank - by Jennie Lynn

Beautiful Mill Creek

Hi everyone... this is Jennie Lynn.
Last weekend on my way out the door to Emily and Hank's wedding, I grabbed my camera out of habit. I'd previously promised Emily that I'd bring a date, however seeing that I didn't have one, I brought my camera instead. He was a fine date and we had a blast.

The setting was grand and Emily, always gorgeous, shone brightly alongside of Hank. In the words of the best man, "she could be a model". Amidst cowboy hats, pickups and a lot of pink, these two celebrated the time of their lives.

Emily and Hank, thanks for letting me grab some images. I hope you enjoy them and I have many more for you. Thanks also to Sarah Nelson, the REAL photographer who covered their wedding... you are great!

Bye for now!

Kasey and Tara, Moonlight Lodge

From rainy start to a Rainbow finish.

To follow up on the story of Kasey and Tara on August 4th, here's the album - the entire beautiful day... rainbow and all. It was a memorable wedding day in Montana's changeable, remarkably beautiful Big Sky weather.

The Wedding album of Tara and Kasey!

Next week I'll finish the Album of Ying and Martin's wedding on the coast of Southern California with the reception on the catamaran.

Hail to the bride and groom!

The most exciting wedding of the year!

Ok, so I promised to get to this and tonight I unveil the most exciting wedding of the year!!! No one would have guessed when they arrived for the wedding of Erin and Sam that they were about to get soaked by a freakish hail storm on August 18th! The wedding started out under comfortable mountain breezes and sun. Then as the guests arrived the day got darker and darker and darker. I was standing outside waiting for the bride to emerge and walk up the hill to where over 125 guests had arrived and were seated for the wedding. Then it happened. The sky opened up and delivered a pelting of hail like I've rarely seen in August. See for yourself below.

Everyone evacuated the open field and took refuge inside the Woodlands reception facility. Folks were drying off a bit, mops appeared and no one seemed to be any worse for the wear. I think any other group of people might have had their spirits dampened, but not the O'Tooles or the Ortega's. It was a passionate and happy occassion. And as the night progressed, everyone agreed it was "A DAY TO REMEMBER!"

I raise my glass to my friends Erin and Sam, all their family and friends. The most exciting wedding of the year!!!

Holland Lake Wedding

Within Miles of a forest fire!

Well you wouldn't guess it by the images, but the forest was burning less than 15 miles away. God smiled upon Kristen and Evan's wedding at Holland lake and blew the smoke in the other direction for the rehearsal dinner and the next day in the afternoon. Holland Lake is close to my heart. I've vacationed there with my family nearly 15 years ago and it seems I get called back about once a year for a beautiful wedding.

Well this was no exception... beautiful it was. The wedding day was August 11th. The photos below are from the rehearsal dinner and these will wet your photo appetite for the really great images we made on their very special day.

Just a moment to say thank you to the Rosenberg's for the warm welcome and gracious hospitality. Also to Kristen's Mom, your graciousness only exceeds your beautiful nature. I mean that. This was a weekend in heaven for Jennie Lynn and I in many ways.

Oh, yes I have so many weddings that I haven't told you about yet. Wait till you see the hail storm at Erin and Sam's wedding on August 18th. A few of my photos made the Livingston Enterprise yesterday. Absolutely the most exciting wedding of the year. This summer been such a blur, but don't worry I'll be building these albums as quickly as humanly possible. It's kind of silly actually, I'm sitting here at 11:45 pm blogging about these wonderful experiences, when I should be sleeping. It's a great blessing to love your job, so I'll can sleep later. uh huh? Until then, enjoy these.

One more thing: the chef at the Holland Lake Lodge absolutely rocks. I mean, it was the best wedding dinner of the year, so far. She did an amazing job. Kudo's to the Chef and wait staff at the lodge. If you're planning a wedding there in the future don't hesitiate to call me for a full commentary about this hidden gem of a hideaway.

Once again, Jennie Lynn's fine skills shine in many of these images. Thanks to my sweet Jennila! I love working with you.
Off I go to see What's Next!

A stunningly beautiful Montana wedding.

Another first draft album, First Class album! This one is gorgeous! I'll let the photos speak for themselves. Next week I'll be building two albums, Tara and Kasey's at the Moonlight Basin Lodge and Ying and Marty's at the Kona Kai resort in San Diego.

I've got the weekend off for a change and I'm flying out to get my youngest daughter set up at the University of Puget Sound in Tacoma. I'm really excited for her.

Another trip to Great Falls

Photo Docs?

Here's a switch up. I just got back from Great Falls again. I shoot ads for Benefis Hospital up there. You can see a number of them on my Montana-Photographer.com web site. This time was especially interesting. I got to photograph an actual surgery.... gulp! I didn't know for certain how I might react to the reality of what these fine folks do in the OR. Well, it was short but I got some cool shots and I didn't pass out or collapse to the floor.

These surgeons and their teams are really early birds. We were in there at 6 am setting up. So, here are the early morning faces (albeit masked faces) of myself and my assistant Carmen.

I'm shooting at the Woodlands tomorrow for Erin and Sam. Looking forward to a beautiful wedding in the foothills above Bozeman. New albums will be coming next week. Later, Larry

A Moonlight wedding story.

Tara and Kasey, marriage in the mountains.

When you ascend into the mountains of Montana to get married, the weather can do "anything". And that's exactly what happened at the wedding of Tara and Kasey at the Moonlight Lodge Resort on Saturday August 4th.

I'll set the stage by saying that when I arrived, it was all socked in and raining vigorously. So much for my freshly ironed shirt! More importantly we had less than two hours before the ceremony and the wedding was planned for the deck overlooking the mountains and valley below. The rest of the story I'll tell with my photos.

Everything was in readiness, but the rain kept coming. So I started with some window portraits and hoped for the best.

Slowly things seemed to be getting brighter outside. And then, as it usually happens in the mountains.... poof the clouds are gone and outside we went to enjoy the scenery.

The remaining clouds cleared to reveal the mountains.

And then the angel clouds paid a visit to prepare for the ceremony at hand.

Before the afternoon light had drifted over the horizon a beautiful rainbow graced their wedding day. Spectacular!!!

And then Little Siss and the boys ripped it up for the rest of the evening.

Tara and Kasey, Thanks for having me us for your wedding. We really enjoyed your family and friends. The first draft album should be coming along by the end of next week. Cheers! Larry

August 5th in San Diego

Ying and Marty: To have and to hold.

Ok, so what is it about this wonderful place where the temperature is moderate, the ocean is blue and the sky opens up amidst that big city and just swallow's up your problems, your stress and your troubles that are somehow magically made insignificant in the greater scope of things when faced with that great big ocean? Well that's the short version of the question I asked my self as I flew in on Sunday at 9:30 am and walked along side of that massive body of flowing, moving, living water.

Well, as it turned out that was the substance of this wonderful wedding. Marty works for the Scripps Institue of Oceanography and Ying Wu is a professor at UCSD, a Phd in Cognative Neuroscience. This is their life. They live on a 28 foot catamaran, which is perfect for who they are and what they aspire to. The ceremony was held at the Kona Kai Resort on Shelter Island. Appropriately, they took all their friends and family out on a 58 foot catamaran "The Aolani" for a sail in the bay and a fine dinner aboard. To end the evening we sailed back into the mooring and dropped them off at their beautiful floating home on the Pacific.

So welcome to a world of spirit and love that is open minded, inspired and refreshingly unique to these souls and their chosen paths in life. Long live the dream of being a creative partner in life. Long live the spirit of love that resides within the heart and expresses itself differently for each and every couple.
To my new friends, Marty and Ying. May the universe bless your dreams and everyday of your lives!

Thanks to my daughter Jennie Lynn for the great shots of "dad at work".

Gallatin Gateway Elegance

Katie and Tom: Simply Beautiful.

Last summer I was having breakfast at the Huckleberry Cafe in Big Sky. It was Sunday morning after a fine wedding at the Moonlight Lodge. I was waking up over my second cup of coffee with my wife, contemplating the menue and enjoying the morning sun on the outside patio. Our waitress was delightful and admittedly more chatty than I was that particular morning. The conversation led to what we were doing in Big Sky, and I told the waitress what I do. She lit up and said, "Oh, I may need you!" Well, the waitress was Katie and almost exactly a year later, there I was photographing Katie and Tom's beautiful wedding at the Gallatin Gateway Inn.

The wedding was exquisite and came off without a hitch, thanks to the amazing planning and coordination by Katalin Green. Katie and Tom looked absolutely smashing and it was a delightful (and warm!) day in Gallatin Gateway.

Katie and Tom. We had a blast photographing your wedding. Thanks for your graciousness and FUN spirit!

Enough said. Here are a selection of photos for my photo loving friends out there. Check back to see Katie and Tom's album in a couple of weeks. I can't wait to put it together.

And special thanks to my daughter Jennie Lynn, who did an amazing job shooting second camera with me at Katie's wedding. Two of the images above are hers. Bet you can't guess which ones!

Happy Trails! Larry

This weekend, will be an adventure. I'm off to the Moonlight Lodge for a Big Sky wedding on Saturday and then Jennie Lynn and I hop an early flight Sunday morning to San Diego. The reception will be on a 55 foot catamaran! Next week, I'll be putting up some photos while I'm sitting on the beach in Encinitas where I used to surf, during my California incarnation!!!
