Chico Hot Springs Wedding, May 22.

A beautifully rainy day.

Here is the next album to go online. It's the wedding Rachel and Jim at Chico Hot Springs Resort and it's wonderfully unique. Anyone that has the fear of having rain on their wedding day... must see this wedding. It was a lush and gorgeous spring day with rain, umbrellas and the freshest Montana air.
Friday 7:30 pm: the album is complete. It takes a great deal of concentrated work but the end result is worth the effort.

The Wedding of Rachel and Jim

Tomorrow, I'm off to photograph a Montana style Church wedding in Fromberg. Then we're going to drive to the Bride's family ranch where her Grandparents grew up. This should make for some very special and scenic images.

A sunset to remember in Roberts, Montana

Amanda and Glen Gillett

Wednesday: noon: I made some final tweaks and I'm still looking for a Cowboy ballad to back this one up, but here it is. The last image is still my favorite.

Happy Trails to Glen and Amanda!

Amanda and Glen's May 19th wedding.

It's late and I'm keeping "wedding photographer's" hours tonight at the studio, which by the way are very different from "banker's hours"!!! Tomorrow morning I'll put the finishing touches on this album and post it live. You're going to enjoy this one. I just can't spend another hour in front of my computer tonight. Here's peak at one of the last shots of the evening. I think this is my favorite image of the day; it just says it all.

San Diego wedding

50 foot catamaran reception!

I just booked a wedding on the ocean in San Diego in August. The wedding is being held at a fine hotel on the beach and then the reception will be held on a 50 foot catamaran cruising down the coast. I can't wait. This will be the most unusual wedding I've ever photographed and I'm thrilled at the idea of making photos against the beautiful backdrop of the Southern California coastline floating by on the horizon. My daughter Jennie Lynn will be shooting with me and helping with details. Then we're going to take a day or two and visit friends a bit north in Laguna Niguel before flying home. Ah Yes... time to visit some of my old surf spots, like Swami's, Trestle's and San Onofre beach will be most welcome. I hope to fly home with salt on my skin and sand in my hair; I always take one last dip before hopping a flight and leaving CA.

Sorry, no photos yet on this one, but when I do these are going to be exciting.

A spectacular rainy day at Chico

Rain or shine, beer or wine...

I repeat... "rain or shine, beer or wine, it's wedding time in Montana."

Today I joined Rachel and Jim with their families and friends from Kansas City and Virginia Beach for their rainy day wedding, and it was spectacular. I'm most likely, short on words tonight because it's been a long day, and I'll save the whole story for a more loquacious evening and let the images speak for themselves. But suffice it to say that Jim spent 8 years serving our country as a Navy Seal; and I think the rainy day wedding should be self explanatory!!! He's probably more at home in the water than most of us.

Jim and Rachel, I loved doing this for you and your families. I consider it an honor.

Warm regards, Larry

Roberts, Montana - May 19th, 2007

Texmontana wedding under the Big Sky.

In a small town about 40 miles south of Laurel, on a family ranch owned by grandparents Steve and Marti, Amanda and Glen were joined by family and friends for a spectacular wedding day. It was a proud and joyous occasion in the finest Texas and Montana style. Boot heels were click'n and glasses were tink'ln.

I was joined by my longtime associate, peer, friend and buddy, Lauren Brown this weekend and we shot this wedding together. As a photographer it's a relief to have such an overqualified associate/second camera to work with. Lauren joined me as an intern during her college years and has quickly grown into a true talent in the field of wedding photojournalism. We're looking forward to teaming up this year on several other weddings.

True to form, mother nature played her part in providing a dramatic springtime Montana background for this remarkable wedding day. Clouds, thunderstorms to the south, brief passing of rain, wind and finally the glorious sun and sunset graced this day. Just wait to see the album I'm going to build out of this one!!! It should be done in about a week.

Amanda a native Texan, spent many happy summers in Montana on her grandparent's ranch during her youth. As a family friend tells the story, Amanda's love of Montana was evident early on and Montana soon became her newly adopted home. She met her life's companion here in Montana and now it seems, this is home for good. Happy Trails to these fine families and especially to Glen and Amanda Gillett.

Here are a few images to enjoy until the album is complete.

Springtime Montana Wedding

Anne and Nate's May 12th wedding.

As I promised. Here is the first Springtime wedding of my year, and there are many more to come.

It was 80 degrees, windy and remarkably beautiful. I mean, it was like July in the mountains at the Chico Hot Springs Resort. See for yourself.

Anne and Nate's May 12th wedding.

I spoke to Anne this afternoon. They were at the airport leaving for their belated honeymoon. When they arrive... this will be waiting in their inbox!

Tomorrow, I'm off to Roberts Montana for a ranch style wedding. I have the pleasure of shooting this one with my protege Lauren Brown, who has become quite the BOMB in wedding photography in the Bozeman area. I can't wait to see what splendorous rainbows will arise! We'll see.

Happy Trails... or should I say, Happy Veils! later, Larry

A remarkable day at Chico Resort

Anne and Nate!

Well I've seen fine days in Montana but this one takes the cake! It was an early day in May that was meant to be remembered. 85 degrees, big puffy white clouds high in the sky over the snow capped mountains and the BREEZE... (spelled WIND) whoa! No one was too concerned about their hair, it was one of those days where you just have to give yourself to it, sit back and take it all in!!! And, that's just exactly what 200 folks did that gathered to celebrate the wedding of Anne and Nate at Chico Hot Springs resort.

I'll share a few photos here, but give me a week and I'll have an album online for all the friends and family to enjoy.

Anne and Nate - I loved capturing your wedding day, thanks for having Heather and I as your guests.

This one was taken by my personal photographer: Andrew Field.

Wedding time in Montana

Ready, set, go!

As you can see, all my gear is cleaned, my batteries are charged, I am so ready for tomorrow... Tomorrow, my friend Anne Campbell Turner marries the man of her dreams. Yep, Nate Hossner, that lucky fellow! Chico Resort couldn't be greener and there is still snow on Emigrant peak. And, I get to capture the moment.

This is the first of many beautiful gatherings that I'm pleased to attend this summer as folks from all over the US start the annual pilgrimage to Montana for weddings under our Great Big Sky!

Happy Mother's Day to my gorgeous wife Heather, my wonderful daughters (future mother's in the years ahead) Lauren Brooke and Jennie Lynn, to my own sweet Mother Barbara, and to all of you great ladies that bear and nurture our next of kin. Your life as a mother is the most beautiful thing I can think of.

The women in my life.

So... rain or shine, beer or wine, it's wedding time in Montana.

Happy Mother day! Larry

Visit next week and I'll have some images of Nate and Anne's wedding.

WedPix Magazine: Tips for your wedding!

Brides-to-be, Create you own wedding day!

A little history: I've been with the WPJA for many years now. Not only has the organization become the most amazing source of talented wedding photojournalist (don't take my word for it... just visit the WPJA web site and see for yourself). The WPJA and their membership have continued to educate and change the trends of wedding photography today. Keep your eye out for the results of BRIDES Magazine Wedding photo contest results that will feature work from many great WPJA members.

The latest and greatest idea that they've come up with is the WEDPIX Online Magazine. It's loaded with great articles that will help you educate yourself about successfully producing a wedding that is as unique as your own personal tastes. When you begin planning your wedding, don't let someone else tell you what "has to be" or "this is the way it's done". Get educated and make your own choices based on the experience of others. Create your own personal day to celebrate your wedding... you'll be so glad you did.

Enjoy the articles!
